Last week this sweet face “appeared” on my easel. Now when I say that she appeared, of course I mean that I painted her. But as the image began to take shape, I couldn’t help but think that this sweet little face could look like my granddaughter Daisy in a few short years. She recently turned a year old and she amazes us everyday with her persistence, sparkling personality, and adorableness ~ and as her Mamie I am absolutely impartial 😉 . I can’t wait to see what adventures await our Daisy girl!
from The Little Land
When at home alone I sit
And am very tired of it,
I have just to shut my eyes
To go sailing through the skies—
To go sailing far away
To the pleasant Land of Play;
To the fairy land afar
Where the Little People are;
Where the clover-tops are trees,
And the rain-pools are the seas,
And the leaves, like little ships,
Sail about on tiny trips;
And above the Daisy tree
Through the grasses,
High o’erhead the Bumble Bee
Hums and passes.
