Last week I spent several days on Nantucket with some of my oldest and dearest friends. Spending Summer days on Nantucket is one of our long standing traditions that I just adore. As you can imagine, Nantucket, especially in the Summer season, is full of colorful sights that fill my head with inspiration. I do my best to capture images on my phone so I can refer back to them once I am home and back in my studio. One of my favorites from this trip was a bright yellow Veuve Clicquot bike spotted in town. A bottle of champagne is the perfect accessory for my kind of bike ride!
My Kind of Bike Ride by Pamela Copeman, oil on board
“The thing about champagne,
you say, unfoiling the cork,
unwinding the wire restraint,
is that is the ultimate associative object.
Every time you open a bottle of champagne,
it’s a celebration,
so there’s no better way of starting a celebration than opening a bottle of champagne.
Every time you sip it, you’re sipping from all those other celebrations.
The joy accumulates over time.”
~David Levithan, American fiction writer
Cheers to you and thank you for stopping by!
